Hopetoun produce is the star of the show

bridges festival cook off beefAs part of the Forth Rail Bridge’s weekend long party to celebrate its 125th birthday Hopetoun Farm Shop was very proud to be one of the main suppliers for a very popular ‘ready steady cook’ style event. Local chefs Marc Robertson from the Dakota and Chris McDiarmid from Inchcolm Inn went head to head before an audience vote to crown the winner.

The farm shop supplied Aberdeen Angus steaks and venison loin both from our Estate among a range of other interesting secret ingredients for each chef including local fruit and vegetables, lentils, barley, cheeses and herbs. Chris was crowned the overall winner with his pearly barley, bacon and crowdie risotto topped with our delicious beef steak.  Marc’s lentil cassoulet with wild venison was a very close second.

The feedback from both chefs with regards to the quality of our estate meats was superb and we were very pleased to support this fantastic local event.
