SUMMARY:Mrs Bennet's Ballroom - Grand Ball for King George IV
DESCRIPTION:A Grand Ball\, to include dinner and dancing\, will be held in the Ballroom at Hopetoun House to commemorate the bicentennial anniversary of King George IV’s visit to Scotland and in particular his visit to Hopetoun House. That historic visit was devised\, designed and orchestrated by Scottish historical novelist\, poet\, playwright and historian Sir Walter Scott. The seventeen day tour was the first visit of a reigning monarch since that of King Charles in 1651. \nThe event will be held in the presence of the ‘King’ and ‘Sir Walter Scott’ (professional re-enactors) and will encompass many aspects of the receptions that King George attended during his visit. There will be Regency dances\, quadrilles and Sir Walter Scott dances to a live Scottish band. \nThis event has been arranged by a third party and all tickets must be pre purchased via the below link \nGrand Ball for King George IV (square.site) \n

DESCRIPTION:For the month of August local artists Ian Henderson and Jean Hall will present a new exhibition of their artwork in the Outer Room. \nThe show will feature brand new work in drawing\, painting and ceramics. Jean Hall is a painter who has exhibited widely in commercial galleries in both Scotland and internationally while Ian Henderson is a ceramicist whose work features the use of materials derived from the local Estate environment in a collection of decorative and functional forms. DESCRIPTION:During August Ian Henderson & Jean Hall with return to Hopetoun House for the 6th year\, to display and sell a collection of their own handmade paintings and ceramics.\n\n\n \n\n\nBoth artists live locally\, near South Queensferry in Scotland. They are both graduates of Edinburgh College of Art and are husband and wife. \n\n\n \n\n\nJean studied Painting at Art College and is a well-known exhibitor in a wide range of commercial galleries in Scotland and abroad whilst Ian has studied Ceramics and Sculpture and works in a variety of media including ceramics\, drawing\, printmaking and video. \n\n\n \n\n\nYou can find Ian and Jean in The Outer Room during August when we are open to the public (Friday – Monday).
