Discover the beauty of autumn at Hopetoun
Enjoy an autumn day out in the beautiful Hopetoun Grounds and experience the rich colours and character of the season.
Wrap up warm and explore the Grounds at your leisure, with woodland paths, crisp leaves underfoot and the changing autumn landscape all around. Families can follow an autumn-themed trail, discover more about the natural world at Hopetoun and enjoy a selection of seasonal crafts throughout the day.
Autumn Trail & Seasonal Crafts
Visit the Education Room to collect your autumn trail and take part in a range of seasonal craft activities.
Then set out to explore the Grounds, discovering the sights, sounds and colours of autumn along the way. Whether you are enjoying a leisurely family walk, getting creative with the children or simply making the most of a crisp autumn day in the countryside, there is plenty to enjoy at Hopetoun.
Optional Guided Walks
For those wishing to discover more about Hopetoun’s natural heritage, two guided walks will also take place throughout the day.
Fungi Walk | 10am–12pm
Join our guided walk through the Grounds and discover the fascinating world of fungi, from familiar woodland varieties to some of the more unusual species found through out the Grounds.
Tree Walk | 2pm–4pm
Explore the trees of Hopetoun and learn more about the different species that form an important part of this historical designed landscape.
Please note: Separate tickets are required for the guided walks, which are additional bookable activities. Dogs are not permitted on the guided walks.
Food & Refreshments
The Stables Kitchen will be open throughout the day, offering a selection of seasonal refreshments, including warming soups, scones, cakes, tea and coffee — perfect for a cosy autumn break during your visit.
Dogs Welcome
Dogs are welcome in the Hopetoun Grounds and at The Stables Kitchen, so your four-legged companions can enjoy the day with you.
Please keep dogs on leads while exploring the Grounds and be mindful of other visitors and estate wildlife.

Please note: Admission is for the Grounds only. Hopetoun House will not be open to visitors as part of this event.









Due to Midhope Castle's location on a private part of our Estate we often have to prohibit access to visitors due to filming, farming operations, estate activities or large public events in the surrounding area.
